Raja Petra, editor of Malaysia Today was charged under the Sedition Act at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court

at Dang Wangi police station with wife, Marina Lee Abdullah

BECAUSE OF THIS…… Raja Petra said (in his article) “Let’s send Altantuya’s murderers to hell”. and also for his recent article on Altantuya’s murder

this is a really lame excuse wtf
charging him for saying something petty like this, IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE AT ALL!
does this mean that he should have said it the other way round :-S
he claimed trial to the charge which was under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act
Raja Petra was granted a bail of RM 5 000 but he refused to post
instead, he decided to remain in custody until the hearing date, 6 October 2008
now, he is being remanded at the Sungai Buloh prison
if found guilty, Raja Petra could be jailed for a max of three years and/or face a fine of up to RM 5 000
an innocent man fears nothing
“I am happy. I want to challenge the government. We bloggers have declared war on the government. We are not scared of the government. The government should be scared of us,” he told reporters before going into the court.
“Is it seditious to influence people against corrupt leaders? There is nothing seditious,” he said. “Do you think I do not have evidence?” (Associated Press)
Raja Petra
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nordin Hassan is prosecuting while Raja Petra was represented by a team of six lawyers led by Karpal Singh
-criticized DPM Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor for “abusing the laws” in allegedly getting Raja Petra to be charged for sedition. And urged both husband and wife to use other legal means to deal with him (Malaysiakini)-
Lim Kit Siang
-a duty for everyone to come and show their support for Raja Petra-
” especially since Malaysia Today was the primary source if unearthing scandals especially corrupt practices of the leadership and the government”
Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar
Raja Petra had been the voice of the Rakyat; advocates for transparency, accountability and justice in the Malaysian political system; denounces money politics, corruption and ethnic polarisation
now is the time for us to assist him during his difficult times
come on, let’s contribute
i’ll certainly contribute for this cause
unfortunately, the campaign was CALLED OFF 20 minutes ago, 5.30pm
even though Raja Petra doesn’t want to post bail but the ” One Ringgit One Person” campaign SHOULD still go on to show that Malaysians give full support to Raja Petra
“This is a statement he wants to make. He feels that he has done nothing wrong and we don’t have the funds.”
Marina Lee Abdullah
everyone out there wouldn’t mind to donate, right??
it’s only RM 1, a small amount of money but i couldn’t deny the fact that, we can buy one bottle of mineral water (but not in my school) or maybe a packet of chewing gum, at least
then, the money collected might perhaps be donated to charity
on another occasion, Syed Akbar Ali was charged for allegedly posting seditious comments on Malays and Islam on Raja Petra’s article “Malaysia’s organized crime syndicate; All roads lead to Putrajaya“.
he, however posted a bail of RM3000
